Alma has just completed one of our best ever lambings after great 2010 summer-autumn rains. It seems that after such a long dry period the ewes, including maidens, all decided to have a lamb and keep the Alma Merino genetics well and truly ticking along. With many mobs producing over 115% lambs, it is certainly the year to have plenty of lambs in the paddock considering the present record price for lamb, mutton and surplus sheep sales.

The high fertility of Alma merinos is not limited to good seasons however. Alma merinos demonstrate their high fertility even in trying dry conditions. In the recent drought years, Alma ewes regularly lambed at over 95%.
